Our second CATER School starts on 22 October at the MS-TCDC centre outside Arusha, Tanzania. The picture above is a screenshot of our schedule for the two weeks (likely to change). And just to give you a sense of what the preparations are like, here's the final email sent to the participants from our coordinator Mats:

Dear all CATER 2024 Participants,

I hope you are all well, and excited for the start of the 2024 CATER School next week! The countdown is well and truly on. In this email are some final reminders – please give it a thorough read through so there are no surprises and you come fully prepared.

Reminders:

  1. Please double check all relevant entry requirements & make sure you have all the necessary documentation with you. We do not want anyone turned away at the border. This includes a yellow fever vaccination card if you have it. This should only be asked for if you are travelling from a country with yellow fever & have spent over 24 hours there (i.e. shouldn’t theoretically be required if you have had a connecting flight with a layover less than 24 hours). But if you have it, bring just in case.

  1. Please double check the required pre-readings & activities. Remember that these are compulsory – they give you an orientation to the School content and will stand you in good stead for participating fully.

  1. Please remember also that we have asked you all to come with a 5-minute presentation of your research/work. This should be an accessible overview – we have people from a whole range of disciplines! This can be delivered in any way you wish – oral presentation, PowerPoint, a poster, interpretive dance etc etc…

  1. Please double check the weather for Arusha & pack accordingly. The weekend activity that we will organise is likely to include a walk in Arusha National Park – so again pack something you are happy to walk in.

  1. Please remember to bring any personal medication you require (including insect repellant, suncream etc etc).

  1. For ‘funded’ participants – please remember to keep all relevant receipts that you wish to claim reimbursement for after the School. No receipt = no reimbursement!

Let me know if you have any questions. See you in a week!

Best,

Mats
